starting point of this piece is a ladies’ denim barn jacket, size
I adorned the back of the jacket with a large appliqué piece
representing a landscape. I highlighted a mountain, part of a meadow
and some of the tree blooms with bead work. There are also some daisies
strewn on the back yoke of the jacket. The front yoke is covered with a
paisley-inspired floral fabric. The collar and breast pocket have been
covered with some flower-embroidered organza; I have added some glass
flowers to the collar, and a baroque double angel finding to the breast
pocket. One of the front pockets is covered with rows of daisies, while
the other pocket showcases a complex design of pearls, beads and
buttons with a large enamel focal bead. I highlighted both cuffs with
glass beads and added a silver Hmong silver flower on the front yoke.
The final touch is a freewheeling scarlet take on a military epaulet.
