Ocean Coy Duster
Somewhere on the Easter seaboard, a Southern State, a beach in Winter, a woman walking on the sand. She is the daughter of Isak Dinesen, a listener of stories, an artist that weaves and sews the fabric of dreams, a mind traveler… Let her mind unfurl like the crashing waves, let her spirit flow all the way to Kyoto; the golden Pavilion is perfectly reflected in the garden pond. What is up is down, what is the crown is the root, what is real is impermanent… a pebble can destroy the image, the eyelids closing can destroy the reality… Only the fallen cherry blossoms still float on the surface.
For this very simple black linen duster, I chose a Japanese-inspired
fabric with Koi fish swimming in a blue background strewn with flowers.
I highlighted the collar and the sleeves, while I hemmed the duster
itself in an asymmetrical pattern of fish, flowers and foliage. A
simple row of iridescent blue glass beads underlines the fabric.
